The first design lamp we sold was an Alone. The excitement for this first was great. It gave us even more charge, than what we already had, to carry on our project. The emotion was special.
This is why we like to remember and tell this story. For those who believe that an opportunity is never a coincidence, and that sometimes unexpected signals arrive, it is entertaining.
On the first day of the fair of Euroluce 2017, we were taken aback by the thrill of presenting ourselves and our new products. We had done everything to display a design table and wall lamps to the high standards of the event. Everything had been arranged in the meticuolosly.
We were standing next to the stands of famous designer lamps and we were a little intimidated. Had we dared too much? It was a question that my sister and I were asking ourselves without saying it aloud. There were so many unique lamps: designer lamps, refined, original, interesting. They were not unlike ours. But we were new to those with experience and knowledge of the market. In short, we were moved to discover how our designer lights would be accepted.
And then he arrives. Our first customer. A young, distinguished, foreigner. Arabic, to be exact. He certainly does not go unnoticed. He's walking down the aisle, passing our stand. He pauses for a moment, a fraction of a second, then without hesitation enters our stand and goes straight to one of our Alone lamps. He turns to us and says, "I want this one!" And then he asks for the price. We approach him and explain that it is not possible to sell products at the fair. He insists. We are disappointed to have to say no to our first client. Very disappointed.
But that's not all, the lamp he had chosen was the Alone 0021 lamp that we had brought in at the last moment. It hadn't been finished in its entirety, but it was so beautiful that we absolutely didn't want to leave it back at the factory. This is why we brought it. Now, to see that our first customer chose it, was the confirmation of the quality of our choice, it was what we had expected.
We put all our commercial skills into play so as not to lose this first customer. We explained once again that the rules of the fair did not allow us to sell him the Alone he had chosen. Fortunately, for us, since it wasn’t yet completed. We asked him where he thought to put the chosen lamp. He would put it in his Italian home on Lake Maggiore. It was then that we offered to deliver it to him in a few days.
We reassured him that we would deliver the lamp to his home. He immediately accepted our offer and, as agreed, after a few days, we are at home to deliver the completed lamp with great emotion equalled only to his sentiment.
What was so wonderful about this story? The great satisfaction of our client when he saw his new lamp placed in his Italian house on Lake Maggiore.
A wonderful Italian and international celebration of the first sale of our lamp.
